Governance at the Dementia Trust

The Dementia Services Development Trust is governed by a trustee board that takes overall responsibility for its work.

Trustees have a role in;

  • The long-term direction of the charity including its objectives or purposes

  • Implementing policies and activities to achieve objectives

  • Complying with legal requirements

  • Accountability to those with an interest in the charity

Most of the board’s work takes place at board meetings at which they;

  • Set direction and strategy

  • Ensure that the work done is effective, responsible, and legal

  • Safeguard finances, resources, and property

  • Prepare annual reports and accounts

  • Make clear about boundaries with those who work on behalf of the charity

  • Ensure that the board operates effectively
